In Last Asylum: Plague, players step into the role of a plague doctor, tasked with becoming the last hope for a town ravaged by a mysterious pandemic. This strategy game challenges you to establish and manage a sanctuary, serving as a refuge for the sick and desperate. Beyond healing and rebuilding, the experience expands to include defending against a menacing Rat Swarm and leading hero squads to reclaim abandoned territories, blending base management with strategic combat.
Sanctuary Management and Survival
Players are central to running their sanctuary, which functions as the primary defense against the ongoing plague. This involves treating patients and crafting herbal remedies to combat the widespread sickness. To accommodate the growing population of survivors, you must expand existing wards and construct new facilities. Sustaining the sanctuary and its inhabitants requires dispatching survivors to gather essential resources like timber, herbs, food, and other supplies from the wild. These resources are then used to build production facilities, expand warehouses for storage, and upgrade residential buildings to house more people, forming a core loop of survival and growth.
Strategic Defense and Reclamation
The game also features a significant combat and territorial expansion component. Players must recruit and upgrade heroes to form elite squads, which are essential for holding the line against a threat known as the Rat Swarm. Strategic defense involves building defensive towers to protect the sanctuary, culminating in a confrontation with the Rat King to repel the swarm. Beyond defense, these hero squads are deployed to reclaim plague-ridden towns. Success on the battlefield against contenders allows players to gain control of crucial cities, thereby expanding their territory and influence across the world.
